Tell us a bit about yourself
I am an Executive at Clearwater International. I joined the company in January 2021 having completed an internship at Clearwater in the summer between my second and third year at university. I read International Relations at Durham University and graduated in the summer of 2020. I am a keen sports woman and played lacrosse competitively at Durham; I also play hockey, sail and enjoy running.
What originally attracted you to Clearwater?
I was originally attracted to Clearwater because of its strong reputation within mid-market M&A. I also wanted to be part of a company where I would get exposure and responsibility early in my career, and after chatting to people at the firm, I realised Clearwater would give me this opportunity.
How did the intern scheme set you up for a successful career with Clearwater?
The internship was hugely beneficial as it gave me an understanding of what to expect if I was to work at the company full-time. I had exposure to a range of workstreams in the business including the typical tasks on a deal, on a debt mandate and in deal origination. I also got the chance to meet people of all levels in the company to understand its culture.
How is the graduate scheme supporting your development?
The graduate scheme is giving me the opportunity to learn on the job whilst also developing my technical knowledge in accounting and M&A. The buddy scheme is great and there is always someone to direct my questions to! As a result of Covid, we haven’t yet managed to meet the grads from the other offices but we have things planned for later this month so fingers crossed this can happen.
Tell us about your career journey so far.
